– Super Evolution of the Iconic Nissan Z® Expands the Sports Car "Sweet Spot" With An Unmatched Balance of Performance, Style and Value –

In the first full redesign of the iconic Nissan Z® since its re-introduction as a 2003 model, nearly every piece and component has been rethought or redesigned – shorter wheelbase, greater use of lightweight body materials, new engine with more horsepower and improved fuel economy, a new 7-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters, a world's first synchronized downshift rev matching system for the manual transmission, new high quality driver-centric interior and new available technology features.

But to get the full measure of the new model, now designated the Nissan 370Z, one need look no farther than the subtle upswept line of the new rear quarter window. Quintessentially Z®, the window harkens back to the original 1970 240Z – a car that revolutionized the sports car world with its unique combination of performance, style and, especially, value. The new 370Z solidifies the Z®'s position as one of the most desirable sports cars on the planet – at an affordable price – bringing true sports car performance to everyone. "The fresh character of the 2009 Nissan 370Z is immediately apparent in the crisp new exterior design, which is sportier yet still immensely identifiable as a Nissan Z®," said Al Castignetti, vice president, Sales, Nissan Division, Nissan North America, Inc. "One usually thinks of evolution as being linear. The new 370Z's 'super evolution' builds on the best features of both the first and last generations Z–cars – respectful but not retro, simple yet sophisticated, and 110 percent pure Z®."

Solidifying the strengths of its immediate predecessor, the new 370Z was conceived as an "Everyday Sports Car," targeting segment-leading performance and a base MSRP of around $30,000 (final performance figures and pricing to be available at a later date). "The new 370Z lives in the sweet spot of performance, style and value, a position that Nissan invented with the original Z®. It's an authentic sports car that you don't have to make sacrifices to own – or drive everyday," said Castignetti. The new 2009 Nissan 370Z Coupe model is scheduled to go on sale in North America in January 2009, followed by a new 370Z Roadster for the 2010 model year.

The New Exterior: Not Just Sculptural, Functional

The 2009 370Z's dynamic new styling offers dual benefits – a more aggressive appearance and a lighter, tighter structure for enhanced performance. The new Z's wheelbase is nearly four inches shorter than the previous generation Z® (100.4 inches versus 104.3 inches), accomplished by moving the rear wheels forward in the 2nd generation FM platform, while overall length is reduced by 2.7 inches (167.1 inches versus 169.8 inches). At the same time, the overall width been increased by 1.3 inches, the rear track by 2.2 inches and overall height reduced by 0.3 inches, giving the 370Z a much more aggressive stance. The more compact exterior dimensions and expanded use of lightweight materials help reduce weight. For the first time, the Z® features aluminum door panels, along with an all-aluminum hood (the previous aluminum hood design utilized steel reinforcements) and an aluminum hatch.

At the same time, the body structure was extensively revised, improving front body torsion rigidity by 30 percent; a new front suspension cradle to reduce front body lateral bending; new rear structural reinforcements; and an underbody "V-bar" to help reduce rear lateral bending. Other enhancements include the use of a carbon fiber composite radiator housing and strengthening of the rear fender and hatch areas. Rear body torsion rigidity is improved by up to 22 percent and rear body vertical bending rigidity is improved by up to 30 percent. The result is enhanced overall solidity and handling capability. Even with all of the new body strengthening measures the overall body-in-white is lighter than the previous body-in-white. "As every race car driver knows, weight is the enemy of performance and rigidity is the foundation for handling – but they usually work at cross purposes from each other," said Castignetti. "With the new 370Z, the engineers were able to build a body that is both stronger and lighter, enhancing Z®'s athletic performance abilities."

Along with its new structure and stance, the 370Z has a taut new skin – one that looks completely new, yet completely Z®. The exterior design incorporates intentional 240Z styling cues, a sleek aerodynamic shape, a "dynamic motion" feel with a dramatic cantilevered roof (with Nissan GT-R styling cues) and a "low visual gravity." The coefficient of drag is 0.30 (0.29 with the Sport Package), the same as the previous generation 350Z Coupe. The new Z® also maintains the previous generation's zero front lift and zero rear lift when equipped with the rear spoiler, thanks to extensive aerodynamics efforts – including an "inverse area" front bumper design which smoothes the flow of air to the sides of the vehicle, while the rear design maximizes the control of air flow from the roof to the rear hatch. In addition, the front overhang was extended 1.2 inches and more than 200 rear quarter panel patterns were made and wind tunnel tested to counter the negative aerodynamic effects of shortening the wheelbase (versus the 350Z). "The 370Z incorporates all of the signature Z® elements – the long nose, canopy cockpit, muscular fenders, vertical door handles," said Castignetti. "What's new is a more wheel-oriented, organic design with more of a sense of precision and agility." One of the most distinctive features of the bold new exterior design is the headlight/taillight treatment, which features a fierce "boomerang" shape. High Intensity Discharge (HID) bi-functional xenon headlights with auto on/off feature are standard.

The hood's deep character lines continue over the windshield into the new, cantilevered roof design. The intense broad-shouldered rear shape is highlighted by the integration of the boomerang taillights and wide, flared rear fenders. The 370Z's sleek silhouette is defined by its upswept quarter window design that is echoed by the dynamic upward curvature in the lower rocker panel and the sense of the taut sheet metal molding itself around the wheels and frame. Attention to detail and functionality is evident throughout the exterior design, including the addition of a flashing (repeater lamp) side marker lamp/emblem. Performance body pieces are available as part of the optional Sport Package, including a front chin spoiler and rear spoiler. The 370Z is offered in seven exterior colors: Pearl White, Monterey Blue, Brilliant Silver, Magnetic Black, Solid Red, Platinum Graphite and a launch-year only, premium signature color, Chicane Yellow.

A Driver's Cockpit Equipped To Make Car and Driver Feel Like One

The interior design of the new 370Z continues the Z® tradition of enhancing driving pleasure, no matter what the road or traffic conditions offer. "As an Everyday Sports Car, every aspect of the interior needs to address two needs – support and enhanced driver performance during spirited driving and offer high levels of comfort and utility for normal commuting and around-town activities," said Castignetti. The traditional 2-seat layout is built around a deeply scooped instrument panel with a full-length center console separating the driver and passenger's seat. In the rear is an open cargo area with enhanced storage and accessibility.

The design focus incorporates a "layer concept," with an information layer, an operation layer and a holding layer. The information layer provides enhanced visibility with easy access to all key data. The gauges are once again attached to the steering column, so the driver doesn't have to choose between the perfect steering wheel position and visibility of the gauges. The upper steering wheel opening in front of the gauges was also enlarged to provide a better view of the readouts.

Gauge size has been increased over the previous generation design, including a 15 percent increase in the tachometer, and the gauge angle has been adjusted. The instrument panel retains the traditional 3-pod cluster with oil temperature, voltmeter and clock, while the speedometer and tachometer now include an "initial
sweep" function, coming alive when the Z® is first started. The operation layer includes the steering wheel, shifter and switchgear. The steering wheel is an all-new "oval" 3-spoke design, which offers baseball-style stitching,
improved thumb grips and palm rest areas for improved feel on long drives. The surface of the leather-wrapped wheel is "shaved" to provide a more kidney-like shape to better fit in the hand. The shifter was also redesigned, with the manual transmission shifter padded in different areas to improve the accuracy of diagonal
shifts and to feel softer in the hand for forward and backward motions. The holding layer includes the seats, knee pads and door trim support.

The driver's seat is uniquely different from the passenger's seat, with lower seat cushion cut-outs on the sides where the thighs rest – allowing the driver to push on the pedals without the seat fighting them. The seat also features an improved frame that helps it to better hold the driver in place during cornering. It also offers a 0.4-inch lower hip point than the previous Z® driver's seat. Both the driver and passenger's seats are structured with an anti-slip material in the main seating surface. The sporty woven cloth seats feature standard 8-way driver's/4-way passenger manual adjustments, with heated 4-way power-adjustable leather-appointed seats standard with the 370Z Touring model. Adjustable front seat Active Head Restraints are also standard. The door armrests have been designed to provide extra support when cornering and the kneepads are better integrated to help the driver maintain the proper position while cornering.

In addition, the available aluminum pedal pads utilize a new rubber insert material to improve grip and the accelerator pedal and brake pedal are completely new. The accelerator pedal is now floor-mounted (versus hanging) to provide better contact with the foot, less effort to operate and easier pedal-to-pedal foot/heel movement.

The brake pedal is a new variable ratio design with enhanced rigidity and easier operation. Interior packaging is also enhanced from the previous generation, including the removal of the rear strut brace (replaced with less intrusive structural reinforcements) and by adding a new "shelf" area behind the seats, creating an ideal area for storing briefcases. A retractable cover is standard on the 370Z Touring model. A locking glove compartment has been added. Standard interior comfort and convenience features include Nissan Intelligent Key™ with Push Button Start, power windows with one-touch auto up/down feature, power door locks with auto-lock feature, a center console box with a new non-intrusive cover design, automatic climate control, rear window defroster with timer, two 12-volt power outlets, four cupholders (two in door panels, two in center console), dual overhead map lights and a AM/FM/CD/AUX 4-speaker audio system with illuminated steering wheel-mounted controls. The 370Z Touring model adds standard 4-way power adjustable heated synthetic suede and leather-appointed sport seats with adjustable lumbar support, 6CD Bose audio system with eight speakers (includes dual subwoofer) and MP3/WMA playback, XM® Satellite Radio (XM® subscription required, sold separately), Bluetooth® Handsfree Phone System, HomeLink® Universal Transceiver and passenger seat map pocket.

An optional Navigation Package includes the touch-screen Nissan Hard Drive Navigation System with XM NavTraffic® with Real-Time Traffic information (XM® subscription required, sold separately), 9.3GB Music Box Hard Drive and Interface System for iPod®. The 370Z interior is available Black cloth or for 370Z Touring models, a choice of Gray, Black or Persimmon leather-appointed seating.

"Of all the tremendous enhancements to the new Z® interior, one that is easy to overlook is the enhanced quality – both in fit and finish and in the quality of materials and designs," said Castignetti. "Z® is proving once again that outstanding performance is available at an affordable price and so is outstanding quality." Taking Performance To A New Level Since so many aspects of a sports car's performance come down to the simple formulation of power-to-weight, the engineering teams behind the development of the new 370Z made that their priority focus. On the weight reduction side of the equation, they put the new Z® on an extremely restrictive diet. Beyond just the
pounds shed with the body-in-white, every component throughout the vehicle was scrutinized. For example, fuel tank weight was reduced by 13.9 pounds, the exhaust system by 3.8 pounds, the audio system by 3.5 pounds and the 19-inch wheels by approximately seven pounds each for the fronts and six pounds for the rears – an estimated 225 pounds total.

Along with the reduced weight, the center of gravity was lowered through use of a lower engine positioning (-0.6 inches) and lower driver hip point (-0.4 inches). Rotating mass was reduced with a shorter carbon-fiber composite driveshaft. All of these weight savings were needed, of course, to counter the added weight of the Z®'s enhanced body structure and new technology and safety features. The net weight reduction is 95 pounds for the 2009 Nissan 370Z over the comparable 350Z Enthusiast model. On the power side of the targeted class-leading power-to-weight goal, the new Z® picks up 26 horsepower utilizing the fourth generation of Nissan's award-winning VQseries V6. The new 3.7-liter VQ37VHR engine with VVEL (Variable Valve Event and Lift) is rated at 332 horsepower @ 7,000 rpm and 270 lb-ft of torque @ 5,200 rpm, compared with the previous 3.5-liter V6's 306 horsepower @ 6,800 rpm and 268 lbft of toque @ 4,800 rpm.

Along with its larger displacement, the new engine gives better power delivery all the way to the 7,500 rpm redline, improved low-end power and more high-end torque, creating an entirely new driving experience. Approximately 35 percent of the engine's parts are new, versus the previous design. Key to the enhanced performance is the VVEL system, which is able to optimize intake valve open/close movements, allowing the needed air to be sent promptly to the combustion chamber at the precisely optimized time. Since the VVEL system can adjust to open the valves slightly, it improves fuel efficiency by reducing camshaft friction and fuel waste. It also provides cleaner emissions by allowing for quicker warm-up of the catalyst and by stabilizing combustion when the engine is cool. The engine also has a new "growl" from the dual exhaust system due to reduced back pressure, enhancing driving enjoyment.

The new engine is backed by a choice of two new advanced transmissions, both designed to improve driver performance. The new close-ratio 6-speed manual includes an available world's first synchronized downshift rev matching system, which allows drivers of any skill level to experience professional-like gear shift performance. The "SynchroRev Match" function automatically controls and adjusts engine speed when shifting to the exact speed of the next gear position, essentially "blipping" the throttle to smooth out any up/down shifts. This not only allows the driver to focus more on braking and steering, it improves vehicle balance and smoothness by reducing the typical "shock" when the clutch is engaged. The system can be deactivated with a button next to the shifter for drivers who prefer less vehicle intervention. The SynchroRev Match system is offered as part of the optional Sport Package. "The SynchroRev Match system takes nothing away from the driver – you still have to engage the clutch and move the shifter – it just gives you a performance edge by smoothing out the gear engagement," said Castignetti. Overall shift feeling has also been improved, with reduced vibration and noise (accomplished through improved lubrication) and a modification to the lever angle of the short-throw shifter.

The 370Z's new 7-speed automatic with Downshift Rev Matching (DRM) and Adaptive Shift Control (ASC) is designed to offer quick, manual-like shifting when operated in manual mode with a target time of 0.5 seconds between shifts. Drivers can use the standard paddle shifters or the shift lever. With new torque converter lock-up logic, the new 7-speed automatic feels more direct, like a manual transmission. The new 7-speed's wide gear ratios offer improved fuel efficiency, while the Adaptive Shift Control is designed to adjust to the driver's driving style. "The combination of the new 3.7-liter engine and advanced new transmissions puts the Z® solidly at the front of the class in terms of responsive acceleration," said Castignetti. "Add in the enhanced handling from the revised suspension – which provides better grip, reduced understeer, improved road holding, reduced impact harshness and better ride – and you've got a new standard for thrilling performance." Estimated fuel economy is 18 mpg City/26mpg Highway for both the 7-speed automatic and 6-speed manual transmissions – increases of 1 mpg City/2 mpg Highway for the automatic and 1 mpg Highway for the manual transmission versus the 2008 350Z.

The previous generation Z®'s suspension has also been rethought to reduce weight, improve strength and improve camber change and lateral displacement. The doublewishbone front suspension (replacing the lower multi-link setup in the 350Z) uses lighter forged aluminum arms and a lightweight rigid aluminum-alloy cradle, along with a lighter stabilizer bar with a 35 percent improved lever ratio. The 4-link rear suspension is also now stiffer and lighter, with the rear cradle entirely integrated into a single part (no welding). All-new "high response" shock absorbers are utilized on each corner, with ride comfort improved through reduced shock friction.

The standard 370Z wheel and tire package features 18x8.0-inch front/18x9.0-inch 5-spoke lightweight aluminum-alloy wheels with P225/50R18 front/P245/45R18 rear Yokohama ADVAN Sport maximum performance summer tires. Also available as part of the optional Sport Package are 19-inch RAYS forged lightweight aluminum-alloy wheels with Bridgestone Potenza RE050A P245/40R19 front/P275/35R19 tires.

The Z®'s already advanced braking system has been upgraded to include improved overall brake feel, better fade resistance and improved NVH. With adoption of the new variable ratio brake pedal, pedal stroke feel is more direct. The standard 4- wheel vented disc brake system includes Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) with
Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA). The optional Sport Package includes Nissan Sport Brakes with large diameter 14.0-inch front and 13.8-inch rear rotors (versus 12.6-inch front/12.1-inch rear standard rotors) with 4-piston front and 2-piston rear aluminum calipers.

Steering is provided by a vehicle-speed-sensitive power-assisted rack-and-pinion deign that has been reworked (including redesigned mounting bushings and a column insulator) to provide improved response. Unwanted steering kickback and vibrations are reduced with the addition of a solenoid valve that acts like a damper when there is a harsh impact load. The standard Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) system has also been revised with new electronic hardware and all-new logic. The Nissan 370Z's long list of standard safety features includes the Nissan Advanced Air Bag System (AABS) with dual-stage supplemental front air bags with seat belt and occupant classification sensors; front seat-mounted side impact supplemental air bags; roof-mounted side-impact air bags; seat belts with pretensioners and load limiters, Active Head Restraints, Zone Body Construction with front and rear crumple zones, Nissan Vehicle Immobilizer System, Vehicle Security System and Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

A Simplified Model Line-up

The new 2009 370Z's model line-up has been greatly simplified, versus the 2008 350Z, with just two models – 370Z and the 370Z Touring. The 370Z Touring adds heated leather-appointed power seats, HomeLink® Universal Transceiver, Bluetooth® Hands-free Phone System, 8-speaker Bose® audio system, XM® Satellite Radio (XM® subscription, sold separately) cargo cover and aluminum pedals to the long list of standard Z® features and equipment.

Two option packages are offered: the Sport Package, with 19-inch RAYS forged wheels and Bridgestone Potenza tires, aerodynamic front and rear spoiler, larger Nissan Sport Brakes, SynchroRev Match (6-speed manual transmission only) and Viscous Limited Slip Differential; and the Navigation Package, with Hard Drive-based
Nissan Navigation System, 9.3GB Music Box Hard Drive and Interface System for iPod®.

This is shocking news not just to me, but to car enthusiasts all over the world i believe, as Trust/Greedy is (or should i say was) one of the world's largest performance parts companies. Who would image that giants like them could fall...sad.....more details below.

Japan’s largest credit research company Teikoku Databank announced that automotive parts manufacturer Trust filed for bankruptcy on September 10th, 2008. Trust also known abroad as Greddy is reported to be approx US$60M in debt.

In February 2008, Trust reported declined annual sales of US$53M. Loan payments totallying US$43M became a burden and was forced to file bankruptcy to the Tokyo District Court.Trust was founded in 1976 and employs 190 workers producing exhausts, springs, turbo chargers and car electronics. A US subsidiary, Greddy Performance Products was founded in 1994 to expand overseas sales. In 1998 Trust reported annual sales of US$80M but since then sales had been declining.

Interior space and accommodation

The rear seats of 2+2 versions of Project Eagle are intended for children or smaller adults on short journeys. When unoccupied, the rear seats provide a convenient stowage area for briefcases and jackets, adding to Project Eagle's appeal as an everyday car. Safety

Lotus' Project Eagle conforms to all regulatory standards and in addition boasts additional safety features; Lotus aluminium chassis technology applied to Project Eagle's provides the car with immense inherent strength, particularly in regard to side impacts and a tubular steel seatbelt anchorage frame that also acts as a rollover structure.Anti-lock brakes are standard on all models, as are traction and stability controls; these systems have been specially developed in co-operation with Bosch to provide enhanced safety features whilst maintaining performance characteristics.Under the bonnetLotus continues its excellent working relationship with Toyota, world leaders in engine development and manufacture and Formular1 competitors. For Project Eagle Lotus has modified Toyota's 3.5-litre V6, with dual VVT-i ('intelligent' variable valve timing) for optimum performance.

Performance

At the time of unveiling, full performance figures for the new Lotus will not have been compiled on a production specification car, however Lotus has a further 6 months of development time to conduct these before Project Eagle is available to test drive.While for Lotus top speed is of less importance than stability at speed, early indications suggest a maximum speed of 160 mph; the 0-60 mph sprint from standstill is estimated at sub 5 seconds (prototype figures).

"Wow" is the first thing that came to my mind when i saw this picture, followed by "Toyota is in trouble...lol" and they should be if the new Honda city were to look like this.Is good to see that Honda finally ditch their awkward designs from the previous model to a more eye pleasing european look. In fact after spending more time looking at it, I find that most of its styling cues were taken from its bigger brother, the Accord, which looks great. Now all it needs is a well priced $$$ tag along with good features and it would be a seller.

It'd be hard to ask for more than what the spectacular Alfa 8C Competizione already offers, but Alfa Romeo intends to do just that. So after announcing the initial run of 500 coupes, Alfa will begin production of 500 roadsters. But in case that weren't enough, reports have been circulating of two new 8Cs to follow. On the one hand we have the 8C's successor, which Alfa's PR people hope will be based on the Ferrari California. On the other we have the more focused GTA version of the current coupe.
While earlier reports suggested that the new second-generation Ferrari-based 8C could arrive in time for Alfa Romeo's 100 year anniversary in 2010, sources now suggest that it will be the 8C GTA that will arrive for the big celebration. Applying the magic formula of less weight and more power, the GTA is tipped to shed some 150 kg (330 lbs), while power from the 4.7-liter V8 is anticipated to climb from its current 450hp to a nice round 500. (If you remember writing your SATs, think GTA is to 8C as Scuderia is to F430 and you're a shoe-in for your top choice.) Only 100 examples are reportedly on the table, and you can bet they'll sell out faster than a "waste management consultant" with priors.

Theissen: more automakers considering entering F1

According to Mario Theissen, a number of carmakers are carefully thinking about getting into Formula One. Theissen is head of BMW Motorsports, and after running the Bavarian automakers foray into engine supply in partnership with the Williams team, led the company towards buying the Sauber team wholesale. In a short span of time and with minimal investment, Theissen has transformed the team from a solid midfield contender to a legitimate challenger for the championship alongside McLaren and Ferrari. Theissen believes that other automakers, inspired by BMW's success, are re-examining the prospect of joining Formula One. The BMW chief also believes that the development of the Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) being implemented in F1 is a strong motivator for automaker participation, noting that BMW's own R&D departments are anxiously knocking at Sauber's door to derive road-going systems based on KERS.
Although Formula One presents a lackluster case for American automakers, many of the world's leading foreign manufacturers participate in the sport, including BMW, Renault, Mercedes-Benz, Fiat, Honda and Toyota. So who does that leave? Theissen says Volkswagen/Audi/Porsche are closely considering entering F1, along with several unnamed Asian automakers. Although its sister company Renault already runs a team, Nissan has been touted as a possible entry. More likely, however, is that Hyundai/Kia will seek the prominence and the technology to go with its rise in the ranks by joining the fray.

Each of the sporty convertibles will be equipped with a silver plaque bearing details of one of the victories won by Alfa Romeo in the race between 1928 and 1947.
Immediately distinguishable by the exclusive body colour ‘Rosso 8C’ and a ‘Quadrifoglio’ logo on the wing, the Alfa Spider Mille Miglia cars will boast special interiors that are trimmed with fine black leather and with red top-stitching and that are equipped with the powerful 260 bhp 3.2 V6 units and the Electronic Q2 system.
The special edition Alfa Spider, which will be based on the new 'Model Year 2008' car, is just one of a whole string of initiatives being planned for this year's Mille Miglia which gets underway in the middle of this week in Brescia. The ‘finest race in the world’ – as Enzo Ferrari famously termed it - will set off in Brescia on 15 May and return to the same city on 17 May, after crossing Italy and taking in the historical centres of the some of the most lovely towns in Italy
The 371 participating teams – which have been described as ‘the most prestigious travelling museum in the world’ – are due to meet on 15 May at the Mille Miglia Paddock in the Fiera di Brescia. This is an area devoted to sporting events where the Joint Presenting Sponsors will be able to stage their campaigns here. When Alfa Romeo revealed the engine line-up for the new MiTo hatchback, at the top of the list sat a turbocharged 1.8-liter four producing 230 horsepower. The notion of the punchy turbo sitting in the sumptuous little package set of a rash of speculation that the range-topper would warrant the application of Alfa's stoic GTA badge. Those rumors have now been rendered by Projetto955 into the image you see above, portraying what an Alfa MiTo GTA might look like. It's boiling over with go-fast features including jumbo wheels housed in bulging arches and connected by contoured side sills, with a big black lip spoiler jutting out the front and fender vents fore and aft to provide extra cooling for the added goin' and stoppin' power. While it has yet to be confirmed that the top of the range MiTo will indeed be a GTA, if it does, it's likely to look something like this.

German state adopts Autobahn speed limit

Mention "Autobahn" to an automotive enthusiast, and his or her eyes instantly light up. That single word represents miles upon miles of traditionally unrestricted high-speed roadways throughout the German countryside connecting major towns and cities.

While sections of the Autobahn have been speed restricted for years, the city of Bremen in northern Germany has just become the first state to introduce a speed limit on all of its Autobahn areas today. While the news instantly sent shudders through our throttle feet, further investigation revealed the state of Bremen has just 60 km (about 37 miles) of roadway within its jurisdiction. Regardless, for the automotive passionate among us, this move is a frightening baby-step for the German Green party (Die Grünen) and the Social Democrats (Sozialdemokratische Partei Deutschlands). Both groups not only oppose unrestricted speeds on the Autobahn, but they also share the power in Bremen. Thankfully, German Chancellor Angela Merkel continues to rule out a national speed limit for the Autobahn.

“Hey, brake awak sudah pecah, minyak keluar (your brake is broken and oil is coming out)!” Normally, a warning like that from another motorist would alarm you and you would immediately stop and jump out to look. But these days, that’s not such a wise idea, even if you are worried about the brakes leaking. This is because one of the tactics of robbers now is to use that warning to make you stop and get down – as this writer discovered this afternoon. Fortunately, however, I am not an average motorist who doesn’t know a lot about cars and whose first two thoughts were: “brake leaking… why didn’t the warning light come on?” and “two guys on a motorbike… be careful!”.
Fortunately, the second thought made me hesitate about getting down and in fact, even when they (two Indians on a motorbike) drew alongside me in the jam along Jalan Syed Putra, Kuala Lumpur, I only wound down the window a bit to ask them what they were saying. As I stopped the car, I was still thinking about the absence of a warning light which would normally come on because a leak will drop the brake fluid level and the sensor (which most cars have) will pick it up.
As I pulled over, the two guys stopped their motorcycle in front of me and the tall pillion rider got down (which also struck me as suspicious because most people usually shout a warning and then go off). It could be that because they were both wearing dark blue shirts with a Shell logo, they expected that unsuspecting motorists would let their guard down thinking they were mechanics. Anyway as the tall guy was getting down, I noticed that in his hand was a small container (like an Eye-mo bottle) and that immediately stopped me from getting out. I immediately drove off and kept an eye in the mirror but didn’t see them following me.
I drove on looking for a spot with plenty of people so that I could check on the front wheel and turned into the carpark at Muzium Negara. I was still alert for the possibility that they followed me so I quickly ran to the front to check – no oil, nothing visibly wrong – and as I rushed back to the door, around the corner they came! I jumped in and they did a u-turn and went off.
So be alert for this tactic which may be a new one. They may not want to hijack the car and probably just want to steal things and that container may have soapy water or something that can burn your eyes and as you are blinded, they open the doors and steal whatever they can find. So whatever you do, don’t get down and don’t stop further along thinking it is safe. If it is a brake problem, just drive carefully till you get to somewhere that has security guards nearby. And it is best not to head straight for home because you never know if they may still be following you, determined to rob you (hopefully, you were an unlucky random choice).
While on the subject of modus operandi, as the police have warned, be alert when you are rammed from behind and don’t get down. Drive to a police station to make your report – you are not committing an offence if no one has been injured and you can tell the police you were suspicious of the car that rammed you. Also, do not think that if there is just one person in the car that rammed you, it is safe because there have been reported cases where another car comes up and stops ahead and two guys get out with parangs and do their nasty things. You also need to be alert for the possibility that if you are talking to one of them one one side from inside the car, it is not safe because the others can smash the glass on the other side and grab you.

Update: Alfa Romeo’s competition to find a name for its 147 replacement has come to an end and the winner is ‘Furiosa.’ Earlier in the year Afla bosses decided to drop the numerical naming practice in favor of going with individual names that could generate excitement and passion and nothing represents this better than Furiosa. However, not all markets are expected to use the name.
Original: Alfa Romeo’s replacement for the 147 is just around the corner but officials are yet to pick a new name for the entry-level hatch. To help them decide, Alfa has put the decision for naming the car to the public, asking for participants to vote between 12 choices. You may recall VW picked the name for its Tiguan SUV after conducting an online poll of 300,000 readers of a German automotive mag. Alfa is doing the same by launching a new website dedicated to picking the new name.
The 12 possible choices include Agea, Enos, Everson, Fira, Furiosa, Milo, Mod, Nevo, Solea, Sparvo, Velvetta and Ventura. Sadly, voting is only open to residents of Italy, France, Spain, Germany, Japan and the UK. The final cut off date is 15th of this month.
Pictured above is an official rendering of the car that was displayed at a recent shareholder meeting. During that same presentation, Alfa boss Antonio Baravalle revealed the current numeric naming pattern would be dropped in favor of individual names for each new model. Until recently most suspected the replacement for the 147 would be called the Alfa Junior. We’ll have to wait another two weeks to find out the new name and then another couple of months until the final production version is unveiled.

Rumors of Ferrari producing an SUV have been around for years, probably ever since the Porsche Cayenne arrived and proved that a marque with the highest of sporting credentials could get away with offerings such a clod to its clientele. Nevertheless, Ferrari fans scoff at the idea, with some here at Autoblog exclaiming they will draw their last breath before Maranello builds an SUV.
Yet the rumors persist, recently culminating in a post by our friends over at World Car Fans that contained an incredible amount of specific conjecture about a Ferrari F599 FS 599 Fuoristrada concept being readied for the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. The rendering that accompanied their post was a bit 8th grade-esque in execution, so we thought we'd share this one cribbed from what appears to be a Romanian site. For all we know the linked article could be telling us that the Ferrari SUV has been approved for production and Michael Schumacher will personally autograph the passenger-side airbag of each one, but we don't speak Romanian and neither do any of our trusted web-based translaters. temptation on a Sunday

As the title say it...it was tempting...*_*

I began my Sunday morning with eye bags and a blur mind, cause i didnt really get enough sleep ...too many thoughs were runing through my head at night...anyway so yea woke up at 7.30am and had to rush for worship practice.

Today's sermon was great, the pastor shared about how we as christians should have an attitude of worshiping and serving God.He use a metaphoric example of how a cat and a dog would treat its master...a quick example most dogs would usually want to serve its master, most cats on the other hand would want to be served by its master...well from my experience,it was quite true.

After that I had lunch with my church friends..as we always do...hehe...now where the temptation begins...lol...i was at a shell station in kepong,well i did the usaul...u know like parking the car,opening up the fuel lid and getting the credit card ready...so yea i walked up to pump station and as i was about to insert my credit card i notice something different...normally the card reader would display a message like" welcome to shell,please insert ur card bla bla bla" but it was diffrent this time...it displayed "lift nozzle and fill"....i was like eh??? eh?? EH!!!!...FREE PETROL!!....lol...i turned around and told mat...he was laugh in the car and said" try and see" and so i did; lifted the nozzle chucked it in and just tap the lever....and it worked!!...50 sens worth of petrol went in....mat and i were laughing like mad...we nvr came across this kind a stituation before...filled with joy i turned around and grab the nozzle again ready to fill up a full tank...as i was about to press the lever....a small still voice said this is wrong...its stealing...so i stopped and though about it...it was clearly wrong to do this...but some part of me was thinking that nobody knows juz fill it!...i felt like there was an angel on one side and the devil on the other...like those u see in a cartoon...lol...aikks its 1.05am edi!....hiahzz anyway to cut the story short i didnt take the free petrol in the end...i went up to the counter and told the guy working there....he help to reset the system and everything was back to normally..:( no more free petrol...well who said that doing the right thing was easy,it nvr is...so yea that was it...sorry if i was to dramatic about this...hehehe...its juz that a tank of free shell V-power to a car enthusiasts is like giving a child 5 scopes of ice cream on his cone....lol...u will surely get our attention..heheh...so yea thats about it....actually im feeling proud of myself now(ben lifts ups his head high and smile)....LOL jkjk

YEA!! finally...i finnished my year 12 science and wat ever was need to get in the engineering course...and still have 1 month free...wheee...freedom for a month!!!....lol...feels great...hehehe..but the sucky thing is that i have to renew my driving license,which i dont even know where to...and to make things worst my license has expired...dangerous...Wow kinda think of it...its been 2 years already since i got my [P]erformance drives license;P...well time really flies huh...kinda reminds me about the good times i had in GRC with the group...good old days...lol

Well today i got to meet up wif joey , ivan , and jun min..its been a while...so yea we spend almost like 3 hours talking about cars...and i though i was a car freak XD...this guys were crazy about mod-ing there cars...joey wants to paint his front grill,16" rims, dual exhaust on his myvi...well ivan wants a hayabusa superbike engine in his mini..LOL... jun min is going wif a bodykit and exhaust mod for his vios...well as for me..juz wanna finnish up my exhaust valve project that i always wanted to do...

hey guys....yes yes i know i havent been bloging for almost 2 months edi...sry...was busy...hehe anyway juz wanted to post some pics from the last convoy i went to...which was great...partly its because i was my 1st time going to KK....and man...the roads there a great...from fast sweeping left right, to trick corners that are easy on the entry point but suddenly bends rapidly...all in all... a great driving experience...although something kinda bad happen in the end...which was quite funny....we were all like runing away from the police cause they though we were street racing...but i dont really want to blog about it..cause it might get some ppl in to trouble....all i can say..is that it was an intersting drive...;P.....ohoh and my hardwork practicing in learning how to take a corner the right way is paying off....im much faster now....and can take over more cars...nyakakakakk...not bad for my second trip...well wat can i say...ive got talent...LOL...jkjk being very perasan now...anyway here are some pics and videos

Hey guys sorry for the late post..have been busy lately and when im not busy im lazy...hey that rhymes!...hahaha lame...anyway i got my car new tires...wheeee:P...finally i threw away those old second hand tires and replaced them with sports tires...kekeke...i still remember driving with those old tires to ulu yam with the guys from italia auto...horrible...my car was hardly gripping the road..dangerous...but nvm im ready to corner hard and fast with 4 continental premium contanct tires on the next trip to ulu yam...muahahha...
Although im a car enthusiast i didnt really pay much attention to the tires...i mean i know that using a good set of tires helps out the cars performance..but i didnt know that it would make so much of a difference...well maybe its because of the sudden switch from cacat tires to higher end ones...cant wait to really test them out on the curves:P
Theres a trip to ulu yam this sunday and lots of members are going..some even came down from Singapore...but sadly i wont be able to go cause i got to play bass for worship this sunday..sigh...talk about perfect timing...hmmm...ohh well i guess i should count it a joy to play for God this sunday..im not trying to act Holy and all but...well putting God first should be our main priority...although it could really be hard at times...but its worth it at the end of the day...know that u choose to honnor God above the things that u wanted...hmm...well i believe that God will give something else even better than this...hehehe..until then i'll be waiting...hahah so yea thats about it...back to my work...ciaoz..and enjoy ur coming holidays :D

Ahh finally i decided to get a new printer...since the old 1 is nothing less that a headache most of the time...ohh well i got myself a hp C3100 for RM 399 from ikano...i know i know pc fair is coming up soon, but i juz cant wait...beside i dont feel like going all the way to KL , get stuck in that mad place, and waste half a day juz to save a few bucks...i got better things to do...hahaha... im quite happy with this print..although its abit expensive..but it can print good quilty photos and scaning stuff....so yea not bad...anyway i gtg start printing my project stuff...hmm busy busy busy this few days...dont really have time to blog about the test drive on the lotus europa S which was awesome..nvm...i'll blog about it when i have the time...till then ciaoz!

Hey guys...sry i havent been bloging much lately...was really busy this few weeks...infact im suppose to be doing my work now instead of bloging....shheessh!..heheh...nvm this will onli take 10 mins.
Lately my streamyx has been really slow...as in really really slooooowwww...opening a page without downloading with my bittorrent or limewire also will take some time...and on the downloading part...needless to say...eshhh!!!it gets to ur nervous at times...haihzzz...well as all we malaysians know..."streamyx" is well known for is internet serivces that say 1MB but in the real world is half of that that speed...and it cost RM88 a month!..acutally i dont mind paying RM88 a month..as long as the speed is about 80% of wat has been promised...but my gosshhhh..from the bandwidth test result...my download speed is 108kbps...thats like 10% of 1MB!!!...wat the heckk...eshhhh!...im gonna file a complain soon....here's the result

Ahhh got something to blog about...hehe...this morning i went to SDAI to bring my car there for a customer to view...at the same time got to talk to a few sales men that i knew early...the apointment was at 9.30...i got there at 9.15..but as usual the malaysians timing..the guy came at 10.15...lousy fella..dunno how to keep time...so anyway as i was waiting for him, the guys from SDAI asked me to go for a test drive on the new 147 sport edition...and ofcourse i said YES...hehe...filled with excitment i jumped in the car and took it for a spin...it was great!..ofcourse lehhh its an Alfa Romeo..LOL...this model had a flappy paddle gear shift on the steering,if u dont know what that means, its basically two paddle behind the steering wheel that allows u to shift gears by flipping them - or + , like those u see on a F1 car...cool huh?..hehe..so yea had fun with it on some twisty roads around that area and tested the speed on the NKVE..well i onli got it up to 160kph cause there was a police car....but it still felt good...the road holding of the car is great..u really can corners at high speeds, even at 65kph/70kph u still can control the car..it feels solid and and doesnt have much body roll suspesion and springs are abit on the hard side but still confrontable....great car..wish i could buy one...hehe it cost about 160K...nvm can wait for a 2nd one next time...keke...well at the end the buyer liked my car cause it was in a good condition but he didnt really liked the color...he was looking for sliver....after that the guys from SDAI asked me to test out the new 156 too, but i passed on that 1....cause it wasnt the model with the JTS engine...so yea that was my morning..heheh...here's some pics and some extra info on the car..enjoy=)

Hey everyone Blessed CNY!!!....hehe hope u guys get lots of Ang pau's =P
I juz came back from Ipoh...lots happen...visted most of my relatives there, had nice dinners, got to hang out with my cousins...and ofcourse went to my cousin internet cafe(Imax) as i always do when i go back to Ipoh..hehe..and i was juz in time for the opening of his new outlet at Greentown...it was great, they had 22"inch LCD monitors, high specs comp, sofa seats and i got to play for free...hahaha...
i also checked out the night life in some of the clubs in Ipoh....well its my first time going in to those clubs and stuff...well i didnt really like it at the end cause i dont drink, breathed in ton's of 2nd smoke , there were some ppl fighting there and ofcourse the lala music...not a nice place to be in...well at least there were good looking gurls there...hehe...not the slutty kind lah...hahaha...so yea thats my new year in Ipoh...ohhya sry lordson we didnt get to meet up in Ipoh with the others...had to go back to KL early=( ...next year lah...LOL

hey guys i went for the Ulu Yam drive with the guys from italiaauto....and man was
it great...at least 30 over cars came for the run..there were alfas, fiats, smarts,
myvi's, and even a merc CLS 350 came and it was driven by lady that really could
drive fast...Wow...lol...always admired a gurl that really could drive fast...hehe..well honestly i really had a hard time catching up with the guys cause most of them had lots a of experience with the twisty roads up the mountain...but it was fun...kinda felt like inital D...LOL dont worry no drifting was done...hehe..most of them raced all the way up...but not me..im still a noob..but..not for long...muahaha..so yea... we drove up and had breakfest in some mamak store.. after that we came down and went to Sri Hatamas coffee bean...on the way down alot happen too...some of the cars took the corners so hard until their tires were screaming, some didnt stop in time and flew over speedbumps..lol, and some almost boiled their brake fluid...but thx God nothing happen.....by the time we got to the highway i was some where at the end of the pack...cause they were doing 160-180kph....while i was doing 120-130kph....safety first mehhh...lol

Things i learned from the trip:
1) my tires sux!...have to get better ones...hehe
2) nvr underestimate gurl drives...some of them really can drive :P
3) better at taking corners now...muahahha
4) not to miss the next trip!!..lol

italiaauto club nite out

Ahhh feb 1, one of the good days...went to Sime Darby Auto Italia show room which has nothing but Alfa, Alfa, and Alfas!!!..hehehe...this was my first time going into an Alfa showroom, so kinda something new to me...lol anyway the guys at SDAI invited our club(italiaauto) for a speacial TT(Teh Tarik:P) session, which they just brought in a few 147/156 GTA models and ofcourse most importantly give us a speacial review at the new Alfa 159 which is not yet launch in Malaysia...how great is that..LOL..well for we Alfaholics lah...hehe...they also let us testdrive some of the cars...but all the highend cars like the GTA's and the 159...which could onli be tested after u made a booking...Wasted! LOL...nevertheless.. i had a great time talking to the club members although most of them were like 25 and above...(aiks..im the youngest there) with the onli 1 having a P sticker on my car...crap forgot to take it out before i went there...kekeke..but since we all had one thing in common....yes yes we all love Alfas :D..so it was much easier to click with them......well as they say all good things must come to an end..but for me it was too soon...i had go home early about 9.30pm cause matt's parents were waiting in my hse-_- ....eshhh dude get a car soon lah wei...wasted u know didnt get to test drive....LOL jkjk:P
Can't wait for the drive to Ulu Yam this Sunday...got my bella filled with Shell V-power racing already....VrOOMMmmm....LOL....gonna be great!!:D

Well today all went pretty well....had lunch in a nice restoran named Ah loh i think...cant remember... got to see my grandma, auntie and uncle who juz came back from Aus 2 days ago whos name is Ben too..hehe....and had a nice talk wif my dad in the car....well it was great until the word 'ARENA' pop up.....eshhhh!! hate that word now....anyway my dad wants selling off the alfa and the land rover and replace them wif a sports car :D and.....(drum rolls....) an ARENA >:O...woiiii....and guess who gets to drive it...hpmmph....OMGoshhh....i still remember the day that proton launched the Arena..i was laughing like mad at it cause its like wth!...wira front wif a pick up truck rear....no wontder proton is lossing money..thx to its fleet of GREAT cars the Juara, the Savvy and ofcourse the Arena, Wonderfully examples of how a car should look like when it falls of a ugly tree, hitting every branch on its way down....here's a pic of it

well i couldnt complain much about it to my dad cause its his money after all.....anyway now im in charge of selling of the Alfa for 55K and the Land Rover for 25K anyone interested let me know...i know mat will be LOL another alfa fan..:P...so yea i hope my dad doesnt buy the Arena...all i can do is pray,prusuade and ofcourse trust in God.

Aikkkss....juz found out that my dad really wants to sell off the Alfa Romeo 156 to get another car...so much so that he is even willing to sell it of at Rm55K even though its worth more than that....haihz.. well as most of u guys know im driving that car now and that im crazy over it...lol....what can i say..i really fallen in love with it...the design, power:P , that singing engine ...it juz has so much character and the fact that it comes from the same country(italy) where Ferrari's, Lambhorgini's and Maserati's came from....where ppl there are so passionate about designs....hmmm...oh ya i even found out that the selespeed gearbox in the Alfa has 90% of its architecture from the gearbox used in a Ferrari 355...WOW...hehehe and that the car's ECU(its brain) has a smart fuzzy logic program that follows the drivers character...as in when u drive slow around the city the car automatically switch its engine settings to a more fuel effecient setting, and gives u a smoother drive but it feels lazy.....but if u push it hard, hitting the readlines(7000RPM) a few times and it turns to a diffrent animal!!!.....the whole car feels more aggressive and sharper muahahha:P but nothing good about its fuel consumption when its in that mode

.....anyway enough of the technical stuff....hehe....to sum it all up im REALLY REALLY gonna miss this car.....oh well God gives and takes away but what will you choose to say?...... well for me i really thank God for this experience although i'll miss it badly.....but i believe that He has a better 1 for me...hehehe... God is good all the time!!
